It snowed this morning...

Balsa!

New course: The Craft of Poetry starting on Tuesday, 10/20, 11:30-1:00 led by Catherine Champion.
We will read a variety of poets and unearth individual styles and voices. We will also look at the themes and forms overarching across movements to see how they are reinvented, reinterpreted, or honored. Every once in a while, we'll try at penning our own poems and learn the craft of poetry from the inside out.

Our very own Leo Goodman is in Oliver! at the Academy of Music in Northampton!  Leo plays the role of Bill Sykes, a brutal thug who so terrorizes London that people tremble at the mere mention of his name.

Show times for Oliver! are
  • Thursday morning at 10:00 AM
  • Thursday evening at 7:30 PM
  • Friday evening at 8:00 PM
  • Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM
  • Saturday evening at 8:00 PM
Tickets per person are $12 in advance, $15 at the door, and only $10 in groups of ten or more.  For further information, please call the Academy of Music Theatre at 413-584-8435 or 413-584-9032, or follow this link to the Academy's web site. http://www.academyofmusictheatre.com
We are currently planning our 2nd Annual Phone-A-Thon and need your help.  We need a group of present, friendly, and committed parents or members to show up at North Star on Nov. 9th at 5pm with their cell phones.  We will provide pizza and training and encouragement.   Then we will all call alumni and their parents and ask them for donations to match a challenge grant we've just been given.  Last year was a terrific success and more fun that anticipated.  There's a prize for whoever raises the most money, and Bueno Y Sano gift cards for all callers.  If you think you'd like to join this effort, please be in touch with Sarah as soon as possible!  Sarah @ northstarteens or (413) 475-2780.
Snow cancellations can be found on our calendar - we promise to update it as soon as that decision gets made.  We are also trying out getting the cancellations on TV and radio, but can't promise anything until we try it for the first time, which hopefully will not be any time soon.
