Volunteering at Franklin County Fair
Meet at North Star at 10:00 or at Franklin County Fairgrounds. We will help set up recycling for the Fair, which takes place September 7-10. We’ll take a lunch break midway through, and finish up our work by around 2:00, before returning to North Star. Wear a hat and sunscreen, bring water and a bag lunch. Everyone who helps gets a t-shirt and free admission to the Fair on the day of your choice. Let Loran know by Tuesday, September 5 if you are interested.
Opening Day
Bring your own lunch or lunch items to share in a potluck. Meet the staff and other teens. Families are welcome!
The Shindig
Our end-of-the-year gathering where we hear some performances, say some goodbyes, and celebrate the year together.
Presentations Week
The week when North Star members give presentations about whatever they love!
Service Trip to Washington, DC
North Star members and accompanying adults spend a week in Washington, DC volunteering at food service agencies in the mornings and sightseeing/experiencing local culture in the afternoons and evenings. We rent a house and cook/share meals and generally have a great time together.
Staff Appreciation Party and Variety Show
A community get-together at Montague Common Hall! Everyone is invited—please wear your mask. We’ll say thanks to our staff and celebrate with music from the North Star Band and other teen musicians. Bake sale to benefit the Service Trip to Washington, DC.
Volunteer Day at Franklin County Fairgrounds
Sign up with Loran. We’ll be helping set up recycling, trash and compost stations at Franklin County Fairgrounds. Bring a lunch and water. As a thank you, you can come back to the fair for free!
Opening Day
New and returning members, family and friends, welcome to Opening Day! Meet staff and teens, look around the building, and maybe play a few games together. We’ll start classes and tutorials on Thursday.
