For Current Homeschoolers

North Star invites existing homeschooling families to select one or more of North Star's services individually rather than purchasing the entire membership package.

Transition to homeschooling

Meet with North Star’s Executive Director to receive a detailed explanation of homeschooling and its possibilities. Discuss philosophical, legal, and learning issues and hear how homeschoolers proceed on to college and the working world or return to school at appropriate grade levels. Develop your family’s goals and strategies to accomplish these goals. Receive help with writing the curriculum plan, and retain North Star’s involvement until approval is achieved. Includes a complimentary copy of The Teenage Liberation Handbook.
(Typically 3 hours of meeting with staff and further emails and phone calls) Fee: $500.

Parent Meetings at the beginning, middle, and end of the year.

Discuss goals and strategies. What is already in place? What still needs to get started? Are teens and parents in agreement? January-February: Mid-year assessment. What is working? What is falling through the cracks? What are the obstacles or concerns? What new interests have arisen? June: Year in Review. Plans for the summer and the fall. What worked and will continue? What will change? Includes limited emails or phone calls with staff between meetings. Fee: $300.
