Taylor had special needs and his school was not able to satisfactorily serve him. This is an account from his mom, Abby, of Taylor's transition from school, through North Star, to life.
My son just came home from his first ‘real’ job with his face was black with soot except where he’d wiped away sweat. He’s 17 and slight of build. His hands shake as a side effect of medication. He’s dyslexic and terse, creative and gifted, and this past November, in the beginning of what would have been his junior year in high school, he decided to leave school. Not drop out. Just leave school.
Bravo from a parent

From trepidation to confidence, a parent's story.
Mikey is an artistically gifted and creative person who constantly brings life to his vision through a variety of media.
Dan's dad, Ed, had concerns about joining North Star.
As a parent and an educator I had doubts about North Star as a choice for my son Daniel. I read the North Star website and could imagine Daniel exploring interests, growing personal responsibility and developing occupational awareness. Learning, in all the many styles it happens was recognized at North Star. I had doubts, but I could visualize Dan doing well there.
