EMPLOYMENT, VOLUNTEERING & WORK STUDY

Beyond its small core staff, North Star is staffed entirely by Work-Study college students, interns, and community volunteers. Volunteers sign up to teach classes or to tutor students as the need arises. We advertise work-study positions on the UMass Student Employment Office job board.

Other than work-study, we have no paid positions open at this time.

Are you interested in work-study or volunteering? The first step is to read the Staff Handbook. It is a quick and interesting read and will give you important information about our policies, procedures, and approaches to working with teens.

The second step is to fill out volunteer & work study application form below. We will respond to set up an interview.

WE ALSO HAVE VOLUNTEER NEEDS for work that benefits, but does not directly involve teens, such as planning and producing fundraising events, flyering, sharing information about North Star, photography, etc. Many hands help North Star thrive! Fill out the form below and let us know if you want to help in a non-teaching capacity.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In compliance with legal and insurance requirements, we request CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) for adults who wish to work or volunteer with teens at North Star. A CORI history does not automatically disqualify people from working at North Star. We view CORI as just one tool in our community-centered approach to keeping our members safe. Our CORI policy may be viewed here.
