Community Note for 2024-2025:

Due to severe and airborne allergies in our community this year, there will be no peanuts or peanut products and no coconut or coconut products allowed at North Star.

Also due to medical needs we are moving towards being a scent-free environment: please do not wear or use scented products at North Star (including essential oils).

Community Agreement

This is the agreement all teen members sign upon enrollment in North Star.

• I want North Star to be pleasant for everyone who enters. North Star welcomes a constant stream of visitors of all ages. We expect people to behave reasonably in this public setting. We welcome playing, laughing, and socializing in a public setting. We do not welcome bullying, swearing, and other hostile behavior, nor do we welcome excessive public displays of affection.

• I will not bring drugs or illegal substances to North Star. I will not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while on the North Star premises. North Star does not inspect our members’ bags or belongings. However, possession of illegal drugs, weapons, or other contraband is not permitted at North Star. Items such as pocket knives, lighters, cigarettes, e-cigs, and vapes must be kept inside bags and pockets while on the premises of North Star. No one under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol is welcome at North Star at any time.

• I will not smoke or vape within sight of the North Star building. North Star does not welcome cigarette smoking or vaping on its premises by anyone. North Star asks its members who smoke or vape to do so on public property out of sight of the building.

• I will participate in making North Star clean and attractive. All members of the community are expected to clean up their own trash, wash their own dishes, and contribute to the general attractiveness of North Star. In addition, all members are required to participate in North Star’s Cleaning Crew once per week. Cleaning occurs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 4:00pm–4:30pm after North Star closes. Members who are unable to participate at that hour must discuss an alternative with North Star staff.

• I am responsible, as is everyone, for the creation of a desirable community.
